The charming villa I Melograni is located in Umbria, a region renowned for its medieval hilltop borghi, unspoiled nature and food and wine tradition. We are in Narni, a historic medieval centre that became famous throughout the world for having inspired C. S. Lewis in writing The Chronicles of Narnia, the series of fantasy novels set in the imaginary Land of Narnia. The recurring colour of this villa is a creamy yellow, bestowing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, an intimate setting where you immediately feel at home. The large, comfortable bedrooms are all equipped with air conditioning and digital terrestrial TV. The villa, built in the early 1950s, was renovated a few years ago with care and passion by the owners, and is furnished in a simple and sober style; the windows that illuminate the living room face directly out onto the beautiful portico that has been set up for outdoor dining. The private pool, purified with salt, is located at a slightly lower level and is framed by a large, completely fenced garden covered by a green lawn with a large olive grove, numerous plants, tall trees and flowers typical of the area. The splendid garden has various outdoor living areas, equipped with brick barbecue and wood oven where you can eat and relax at any time of the day. The particularly favourable location of the house allows you to make short trips along countless cultural and naturalistic itineraries that wind through the whole territory of this most mystical and green region of Italy. The short distance from the main motorway exit also facilitates travel to nearby Tuscany and Lazio to visit well-known art centres, such as Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Viterbo and many others. NB. On the first floor of the villa live the owners, very courteous and discreet, who will be available for any needs and requirements of the guests, while fully respecting their privacy and their exclusive areas.

I MELOGRANI HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

Interior:

I Melograni is just on one floor. The front door leads directly into the open-plan living room composed of sitting area, with armchairs and fireplace, and dining area leading directly out to the portico. Communicating with the living room is the fully-equipped kitchen and the pantry with the laundry. The sleeping area is accessed from both the living room and a second entrance directly from the garden. It consists of two double bedrooms (with divisible beds), and ensuite bathroom with shower, and a double bedroom (with divisible beds) and adjacent bathroom with tub and shower. All the bedrooms and the living room are equipped with air conditioning and digital terrestrial TV.

Park:

A fence runs along the entire perimeter of the property which extends for about 1 hectare. One part is covered by lawn, mainly flat, while the remaining part consists of a large olive grove with 200 trees and of fruit trees such as cherries, apples, persimmons and, obviously, pomegranates (melograni) from which this beautiful residence takes its name. Outside the living room door is a large portico covered by a wooden canopy with an area for outdoor dining and a living corner furnished with armchairs and a sofa. There are various outdoor living areas, shaded by trees and large umbrella and equipped with brick barbecue, wood oven, table, chairs, sofas and armchairs. In the pool area is an attractive gazebo, equipped with sofa, armchairs and table, ideal for an aperitif. In the evening the outdoor lights come on in various strategic places and the garden becomes even more magical, around the pool and in the rest of the property. A few metres past the automatic iron gate, is the exposed parking area with space for three cars. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The swimming pool is located at a slightly lower level than the villa, which is about 15 m away, and is reached along a paved path. The rectangular pool, measuring 9 x 4 m with a constant depth of 1.40 m, is lined in PVC and has salt purification, internal lighting and Roman steps for access to the water. The solarium area surrounding the pool is paved in travertine and stone and is equipped with sunbeds, armchairs and a gazebo, which is furnished with a sofa and armchairs to ensure shade during the hottest hours. There is a hot-water solar shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

I Melograni is located in a charming and peaceful residential area, only about 600 metres from Narni Scalo. It is located in the comune of Narni, an impressive medieval centre among the most characteristic of all Umbria with: the terzieri (3 districts) into which the town is subdivided, the piazza onto which face the splendid palaces of civic government, the precious cathedral, custodian of ancient works, the churches of the Mendicants which house frescoes of considerable importance, such as that of Piermatteo d'Amelia in Sant'Agostino, the imposing Albornoz fortress which still today dominates the town. But Narni must also be seen from the inside, in the bowels of the town, to discover things more secret, mysterious and hidden: this is Narni Underground, a fascinating and evocative itinerary, revealing ancient secrets such as those kept in the rooms of the Holy Inquisition. The surrounding area still preserves important remains of the Roman era, such as the Bridge of Augustus, an imposing work of the 1st century, and the archaeological area near Otricoli, with what remains of ancient Ocriculum. Every year in Narni, from the end of April to the middle of May, the Corsa all'Anello (Ring Race) takes place: an enthralling historical re-enactment of horseback jousting of medieval origins. Less than 1 km from the property is the little village of Narni Scalo with excellent typical restaurants and all necessary services such as; shopping centres,chemists, banks, bars, post offices and a convenient train station well connected to the major centres of central Italy. Just 17 km from the property is the motorway exit of Orte which will take you to Rome in less than one hour.

We received more value for our money than stated on the contract. Our hosts, Morena and Paolo went above and beyond to accommodate every need. They pampered us with fresh produce from their garden which we enjoyed every day. The kitchen was better equipped than my home kitchen! Not just great pans and pots but olive oil from their olive trees, fresh pasta, biscuits and spices.

The property is amazing as it is. A nice addition for families could be a kid's trampoline since the cute swing is too small for children 4 and up.

Morena and Paolo are such a lovely couple! Incredibly friendly and attentive to details and requests. They make themselves invisible most of the time but are just one floor up when we needed their help with anything. I can't thank them enough for their efforts to make our stay the best possible.

Every room has access to a separate bathroom (extremely convenient during a pandemic), beautiful well-kept outdoor spaces and proximity to supermarkets and Narni's old town.
