The little town of Bossolasco, enjoying a heathy and breezy climate from atop a hill 800 m above sea level, looks out over rows of fine wine grapes such as Barolo which is produced in this area. The culture of wine and culinary excellences of the region have made this town a centre of attraction for Italian and foreign quality tourism. Typical local products include Piedmont hazelnuts cultivated in plantations present in the area, honey and cheeses. In the woods can be found truffles, porcini mushrooms, chestnuts, blackberries and spring officinal herbs such as valerian and thyme. Bossolasco is synonymous with good cuisine and the natural ingredients offered by the surrounding nature can be enjoyed in the hospitable restaurants, trattorias and agriturism structures in the town and surrounding area. Typical dishes of the Langhe cuisine are ravioli al plin, bagna cauda, wild boar, polenta, bunet and hazelnut cake. Here Piedmontese cattle are bred and cheeses of the highest quality are produced, such as the Langhe toma, praised in antiquity by Pliny and today served with a traditional sauce made with walnuts, grape must, pears and toasted hazelnuts. The area boasts numerous wineries, wine producers and wine bars that can be visited along the famous “Strada del Barolo”, an itinerary sprinkled with castles, manor houses and old hilltop borghi. We are in the realm of the great wines of the Langhe and Roero.
