Podere San Buono, whose origins date back to the early 20th century, was originally a farm building. Today it appears in renewed splendour, after important renovation works that have turned it into a comfortable and traditional Tuscan home. Within its austere shell of light-coloured exposed-stone are charming, refined rooms, clothed in the colours of the typical Sienese countryside: an elegant living room, with original fireplace, wooden-beamed ceilings, terracotta-tiled floors and functional open-plan kitchen, and large, romantic bedrooms overlooking a dream landscape and furnished with an exquisite collection of classic furniture, served by modern bathrooms in travertine stone. We are in the heart of the Valdichiana, in an area that includes the best of everything that distinguishes this famous southern province of Siena, where you'll be spoiled for choice with all the marvellous places close at hand which you can explore from this convenient location, the unmistakable valleys of the Orcia, Chianti and Crete Senesi, with the splendid little towns that crown the hilly landscape, the art cities of Tuscany and the important spa resorts in the immediate vicinity (Montepulciano, San Casciano dei Bagni, Bagno Vignoni and Chianciano Terme).

Interior:

The house has two floors. The main entrance leads into the living room with, on one side, an area with sofas and satellite TV and, on the other, a study/reading area with a desk and two armchairs gathered around the fireplace. This room is connected to the dining area and the kitchen which has direct access out to the pergola. The ground floor is completed by a bathroom and an open-plan double bedroom (with French window) and with hydromassage tub in view. The upper floor (accessible via both an internal and external staircase) consists of two large double bedrooms, both with private bathroom, the first with shower and the second with hydromassage tub directly in the room, beneath a panoramic window. The laundry room is outside, in a structure adjacent to the kitchen French window.

Park:

The 6000 sq m well-kept garden surrounding the house and pool is characterized by green areas covered with manicured lawns, dotted with olive trees and bordered by clumps of lavender, rosemary, roses and the typical broom. Outside the kitchen area is a wooden pergola covered with climbing purple wisteria and furnished with a table for outdoor meals; there is also a portable barbecue available to guests. Access to the property is through an iron gate (near the main road) from which a short unpaved road leads to the covered parking area situated just a few meters from the house. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

In the most discreet and panoramic area of the property, situated on a terraced ground on a higher level than the house and reached via a short stone path of around 30 meters, is the sunny south-facing pool. This rectangular pool measures 5 x 12 m with a constant depth of 1.50 m. It is lined in PVC with a terracotta-tiled border. It has four large steps on one side for access to the water and is provided with internal lighting; lights are also present throughout the surrounding area. Umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds are provided on the terracotta border whilst a few steps away are a table, chairs and large sofa, shaded by a pretty wooden gazebo covered in wisteria and jasmine. The pool has chlorine purification and a cold-water shower. It is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

The villa is just a couple of kilometres away from the small Renaissance town of Montepulciano, known principally for its imposing Renaissance buildings, for the elegant beauty of its churches and for the “Vino Nobile”, one of the most internationally famous wines of Tuscany. The strategic position of Montepulciano, a spur 605 metres above sea level between the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana, makes this property the ideal departure point for visiting the beauties of Tuscany. The A1 motorway exit Chiusi/Chianciano Terme is only 20 kilometres away and so cities like Florence, Siena, Orvieto and Rome can be easily reached. The motorway is not needed to visit the nearby villages of Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, Montalcino, Cortona, Sarteano. The best served and most important railway station is that of Chiusi which is 20 kilometres away.

We loved everything about Podere San Buono. The house was large, clean, and well-appointed. We appreciated how thoughtfully restored it was -- especially the bathrooms and baths/showers. The A/C in the main living area as well as the bedrooms worked well, and really made the stay even more enjoyable. Because we had been traveling a while before arriving there, the washer and dryer were a huge bonus. The pool area was gorgeous with plenty of seating, a grill, a lovely divan under a wisteria-

The views were unprecedented and very special. They thought of everything you might need in the house. Most important, the house was super clean, even the furniture and bedding. Nothing looked worn or old. Chiara was incredibly responsive to any little questions or requests. She is a very nice person and we know it's hard to manage a property and always be available. She was always available. We look forward to returning some day. Wonderful place.
