We are in Umbria, the green heart of Italy, a mystical land, rich in history with borghi, monasteries and castles scattered throughout its territory. Corbara is a new construction but respects the architecture of the area, built entirely with a particular type of stone called “pietra del fiume" (river stone), in a characteristic U-shaped layout. Exposed Melezzole chestnut beams, beautiful Castel Viscardo terracotta floors, fine finishes with warm and natural colours characterise all the rooms, furnished with an elegant collection of classic-style furniture with refined details. The French windows and the numerous windows on the ground floor fill the rooms with light, letting you admire the beautiful garden that extends to the swimming pool for the guests' exclusive use. Thanks to the extensive outdoor park and the large indoor spaces, with cosy living areas, bedrooms of traditional taste and modern bathrooms, this residence is the ideal destination for groups of people in search of a quiet, secluded place. The beautiful private church, located next to the property, is available on request for eventual ceremonies. Corbara offers its guests the opportunity of a unique and complete experience, with spectacular nature and the impressive cultural and artistic heritage that characterises the surrounding area. Its geographical location makes it particularly suitable for short trips to the many towns of Umbria, such as Orvieto, Todi, Assisi and Perugia, as well as, thanks to the excellent road and rail connections, to nearby Tuscany, with the well-known towns of Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena and Florence, and to Lazio and Rome. N.B Close to the house, behind the property, is an enclosure with barnyard animals and cats.

Interior:

The 2-storey structure takes full advantage of the hilly morphology and sloping terrain, allowing access to the garden from both the basement and ground floor. The main door, under a small porch, opens onto the basement floor with an open-plan living area with large sitting room, dining area and fully-equipped kitchen with rustic ornamental fireplace which leads directly up to the ground floor via a stone staircase. A guest bathroom completes this floor. The ground floor is divided into two units, one communicating inside with the basement via the staircase, while the second wing has access only from the outside. The first wing consists of a small sitting room, a double bedroom (with direct access out to the portico and the terrace through French windows) with, next to it, a bathroom with tub and a twin bedroom with joinable beds (with direct access to the outside through a French window) and ensuite bathroom with shower. These two bedrooms communicate with each other through a door which still, however, guarantees their privacy. The second wing is accessed only from the outside and leads immediately to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower; a door divides this room from another double bedroom (with direct access to the portico through a French window) and a single bedroom (with direct access to the outside through a French window) which share a bathroom with shower. Between the two wings, with direct access from the two bedrooms, one in each wing, is the portico where the outdoor dining area has been set up. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned. Park:

A 1.60 m high fence runs along the entire perimeter of the property which extends for about 8000 sq m, characterised mainly by a manicured lawn. The property is surrounded by a lovely olive grove, majestic cypresses and other tall trees that guarantee privacy, especially in the pool area. Outside the French windows of two of the bedrooms is a large portico with wood-beamed roof, ideal for sipping an apéritif or dining in company while admiring enchanting sunsets over the pool area. It is furnished with chairs, tables and a mobile barbecue. Also on the ground floor is a large terrace furnished with sofas, armchairs and a small table. A few metres after the automatic wrought-iron gate, behind the villa, is a three-car parking area. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The splendid swimming pool, for the guests' exclusive use, is located at a slightly higher level than the villa which is about 15 m away and is reached across a stretch of lawn and up a few steps. The rectangular pool has three Roman steps for access to the water and measures 10 x 5 m with the depth varying from 1.20 to 1.60 m. Lined in PVC, it has chlorine purification and internal lights. The solarium area, paved with terracotta tiles around the pool, is surrounded by a spacious lawn area equipped with sunbeds, deckchairs, and an umbrella providing shade in the hottest part of the day. There is a hot and cold-water outdoor shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October.

Location and distances


Corbara is part of the comune of Orvieto in the region of Umbria. It stands 186 m above sea level and is a small town on the right bank of the Tiber where, in the early sixties, a dam was built which formed the lake of the same name. Its origins date back to the 13th century, when Andrea di Montemarte, imprisoned by the inhabitants of Todi, was forced to retire to the castle of Titignano and Corbara. From here the counts of Montemarte extended their possessions to the city of Orvieto. The area is typical of central Italy, green hills and valleys, perfect for pleasant trips and moments of absolute relaxation. The property is located 10 km from Orvieto, with railway station and motorway exit as well as supermarkets and a hospital, all reachable in less than half an hour from the house. In the village of Baschi, which is about 5 km away, you will find a chemist, grocery stores and essential shops as well as a couple of restaurants.
