Description:

RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. The ordered geometry of the vineyards, the plains with their golden fields and the soaring towers of Montepulciano make up the picturesque scenery that frames the panoramic infinity pool of Podere Gellino, a rustic Tuscan farmhouse about 3 km from Chianciano Terme, a town prized for its architectural masterpieces and for its spas that have always distinguished what was once an ancient Etruscan settlement, set in the vivid countryside of the Val di Chiana, south of Siena. The house is part of a hillside farm estate, surrounded by a beautiful park dotted with olive trees and Mediterranean scents. It has large living areas opening onto outdoor furnished porches, comfortable bedrooms and modern bathrooms. It is the ideal base for combining a sojourn in the relaxing atmosphere of the typical Sienese countryside with exploration of a splendid area rich in artistic, cultural and gastronomic proposals of the highest level. Just a few minutes away are Montepulciano, Pienza, Sarteano, Montalcino, Cetona and San Casciano dei Bagni. Excellent roads bring you to Siena and the most famous towns of Umbria such as Orvieto, Castiglion del Lago and Perugia. Before leaving, you cannot miss out on a visit to the salubrious thermal waters of the spas in Chianciano, or in other resorts in the area (San Casciano dei Bagni, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni), for an unforgettable wellness experience. NB. The owners live close by, in an annex about 30 m from the house and separated from it by a discreet hedge, and can be a useful point of reference for the guests to whom, however, is guaranteed complete privacy and use of the park and swimming pool.

Interior:

The double-storey house of about 370 sq m is connected internally and also externally by a flight of stairs on one side. The main entrance on the ground floor is through a French window on the porch leading into a wide living room with seating and dining areas connected by large arched openings. A well-equipped kitchen facing out onto the porch and a bathroom with tub complete the floor. Two staircases, on either side of the living room, lead up to the first floor consisting of two units not connected to each other. The first staircase leads to two double bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed), both served by a bathroom with whirlpool tub, and a double bedroom (with divisible bed) with ensuite bathroom with shower. The second, spiral, staircase, comes up to a hallway (which has independent access via the external staircase as well) leading to two double bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom with shower and the other with bathroom with tub and shower. Finally, the laundry room is in a little building near the pool, next to a further bathroom with shower.

Park:

In the large terrain surrounding the house, set in a 25-hectare farm (part of which is occupied by the cultivation of olives and vines along the perimeter and in the valley near the pool area), extends an inviting and cosy garden with areas of lawn ideal for children to play in, with herbs and colourful blooms and with lavender and oleander bushes along the perimeter of the pool. The two porches, one in front of the kitchen door and the other along one side of the house, are ideal for relaxing and alfresco eating. The barbecue area is situated next to a large paved terrace that offers a beautiful view over the countryside and hills. There is also a parking area, just inside the entrance gate opposite the main entrance of the house. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

Open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October, the pool is located about 20 m from the house, in an area of the garden that offers a beautiful panoramic view of the vineyard that unfolds in front and of the towns of Chianciano and Montepulciano. The pool is fully fenced and the rectangular pool, lined in gray cement with travertine marble border, measures 6 x 12 with the depth ranging from 1.10 m to 1.30 m. It has Roman steps and internal lighting; lights are also present in the surrounding area. The sunbathing area, paved with porphyry and equipped with comfortable sunbeds, is naturally shaded by the foliage of the olive trees that dot the area. There is a cold-water shower and a bathroom with shower room about 10 m away. Purification is chlorine.

Location and distances


Chianciano has a spa resort with mineral water enriched with healing elements. It is situated approximately 550 meters above sea level and offers great climate and every advantage for tourists due to its exceptional geographical position. The mediaval hamlet of Chianciano it was founded around 1000 and it lies on a “tufa” hill which dominates the Val di Chiana valley.The area is very well linked with the main roads like the dual-carriageway E45 and the motorway A1 (exit Chiusi – Chianciano Terme). Many important and interesting historical centres surround Chianciano like Cetona, San Casciano dei Bagni with its Spa, Chiusi and all the hamlets of the Trasimeno Lake as well as important and beautiful cities like Cortona and Montepulciano. The property is located in an area of great scenic and natural beauty, with the Val d'Orcia Natural Artistic and Cultural Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Archaeological Park of Monte Cetona and the Nature Reserve of Lucciolabella.

The owner of the villa are very nice, kind, friendly, open and helpfull. The villa and the garden are very spazious, there is enough place for everybody. One can take different activities and nobody disturbs another. The rooms are very well furnished and two of them are really spazious. Another adventage is the number of bathrooms. There are four upstairs, so every room has his own. The fifth is downstairs near to the kitchen. The location of the villa - isolated but near to the nice town.

The structure and decor were very pretty, and we enjoyed having the two-bedroom separate living space at the top of the spiral stairs. The landscaping and view were beautiful. The pool was well situated on the property to enjoy the view. We appreciated having a dishwasher and washing machine.

The view and pool. Also, there was plenty of space for our party of 10 to spread out and be very comfortable. The location was outstanding in terms of being able to get to many interesting sites in Tuscany very conveniently.

The standard typology is the one that foresees the regular Saturday- Saturday stay. In this case it is possible to send a request or to directly book online.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.
