La Colombaia is an old farmhouse set in the heart of Florentine Chianti, 30 km from Florence, among the splendid hills surrounding Montespertoli, a well-known “wine town”. In 2002 the owners began renovation work on the old farmhouse, used in recent years as a storehouse for the estate. The salvage work was very thorough, maintaining and reusing the original structures and materials, bringing back a farmhouse which today greets guests with terracotta floors and ceilings, chestnut beams, sandstone ornamental fireplaces and stairs, walls hand-painted by spatula, wrought iron railings and accessories, the typical décor of the Tuscan countryside. The villa is surrounded by a wonderful park, at complete disposal of the guests, with a panoramic pool, the ideal spot for spending the hot summer days. La Colombaia is an excellent departure point for visiting the most beautiful attractions in Tuscany, from famous art cities like Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano to not less famous little Chianti towns like Greve in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. NOTE: THE BUILDING NEXT TO THE HOUSE IS NOT AT CLIENTS USE AS THIS IS A PRIVATE STOREHOUSE USED BY THE OWNERS. NO OTHER GUESTS WILL BE ONSITE

Interior:

The villa has two floors plus a tower. The ground floor is composed of two sitting rooms with ornamental fireplaces, a dining room, two kitchens, and a guest bathroom with shower and a toilet. The first floor, reached by a staircase is composed of 2 double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom with shower, a double bedroom served by a bathroom with shower, two twin bedrooms with joinable beds sharing a bathroom with shower. From this floor a staircase leads up to the tower with a twin bedroom with joinable beds.

Park:

La Colombaia is surrounded by a 2.000 sq m. garden, a carpet of green grass framed by rose bushes, laurel and herbs. In various corners of the garden you can cool off in the shade of large trees, cypresses, lime and mulberry trees. You can enjoy the panorama, sitting in the garden or around the pool, which makes this property unique and appreciated by all those who love the beauty of the landscape and nature. But it will be just as pleasant to spend time with friends savouring the typical dishes and good wine in the open air, dining in the large stone-paved courtyard outside the two kitchens of the house. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The pool, situated 10 metres from the house, is reached along six steps and fenced. Of rectangular shape, it measures 12 x 6 m with a varying depth from 1.30 to 1.60 m; it is purified with chlorine and is lined in grey PVC which blends well with the surrounding landscape. Access to the water is by large steps. The border is paved in terracotta and the solarium area is lawn, furnished with sunbeds, deckchairs, small tables and sun umbrellas. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

The village of Lucignano is about 6 km from the town of Montespertoli, of which it is part. Its proximity to Florence makes the Montespertoli territory very attractive to both tourists and residents who can claim the privilege of living in an unspoiled area not far from the famous Renaissance city, known throughout the world. The roads that wind through the Val di Pesa and the Val d’Elsa are dotted with numerous examples of medieval architecture that can be seen in the villages, churches and castles. Along the way you come to villages surrounded by large vineyards and well-kept vegetation that reveal the care that man has had for his land over the centuries. The variety of food and wine products of the Val d’Elsa is a reason that alone merits a stay in this territory. A wide range of restaurants, winebars and trattorias for all budgets and tastes offers traditional peasant dishes prepared with the typical local products certified PDO and PGI. The oil and wine remain, however, the most famous and popular products of the territory. From here in less than an hour you can reach the famous Tuscan towns of Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Lucca and Pisa.

Yes. The photos match the property quite accurately. The host was also very nice. The location was easy to find. Emma Villas also recommended the Chef: Nicole Taddei (Lemon Grass and Olive Oil) and she was AMAZING. She was the highlight of the trip and made it very memorable for us. I highly recommend her.

Si, una sola cosa troviamo debba essere migliorata: il barbecue/grill. Una struttura cosi bella merita di avere un barbecue più grande, non "nascosto" dietro alla casa e con le attrezzature per farlo funzionare bene. Il posto ci sarebbe (di fianco al pozzo ad esempio) per farlo bello grande (la casa è per 8 o 12, dovrebbe esserci anche un grill per poter far da mangiare in 8/12) e con le attrezzature necessarie (griglia stabile e non griglietta precaria che bisogna sostenere con un mattone, pinz

The rural location and views are very Tuscan and the villa, the garden and pool area were excellent. The little tabbaci in the village was quite convenient for bread, milk, etc (although the hill up to it is quite steep and you should probably drive rather than walk). The supermarket in Montespertoli (just off the main square) has everything you will need and is only a five-minute drive away. The kitchens were well stocked with crockery, cutlery and cookware and all the appliances you will need

The grounds were stunning and very well kept. We definitely enjoyed that about the property the most. The large number of bedrooms and bathrooms were another great convenience. The owners were wonderful and very helpful! They even gave us a ride once when we needed it. They were always available to answer questions we had.

The representatives at Emma Villas were a pleasure to work with. I don't think La Colombaia should be advertised as walking distance to town. The walk is straight uphill and well over 1 km to the main part of Lucignano.

Zer0Dep stands for "Zero deposit"; it is an insurance coverage developed in partnership with EuropAssistance which replaces the security deposit and which is therefore mandatory. The benefits of this guarantee are: you do not pay the security deposit on arrival: neither in cash nor by immobilising a substantial amount on your credit card limit;
  • you are protected in the case of eventual damage to the property caused accidentally during your stay (up to the maximum limit of 1500 euro);
  • you avoid any dispute on the responsibility of the damage and its quantification during check-out;

  • online check-in (entering the required details that you did not enter when booking);
  • payment of tourist tax (where due) and eventual flat-rate payments requested (eg electricity, heating, extra cleaning for animals, etc.);
  • the purchase of additional services, hospitality (extra cleaning, in-house chef, first grocery shopping, etc.) and experiences (food and wine tours, guided tours, etc.)
