Description:

RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE (CIR CODE: 1243). Le Macine is a farmhouse which the owners finished renovating with great skill in 2011. It dates to the beginning of the 20th century and its name derives from the fact that along the entrance drive are present two antique millstones of an old oil mill. The renovation was carried out using the classic materials with which farmhouses were built in the past: from Barberino stone for the walls to terracotta floors, open-face beams and the travertine used for the showers in the bathrooms. The house is situated between the Val d’Orcia, a well-known area for the presence of the crete senesi (Siennese clays) and centres of great interest such as Pienza and Montalcino, and the Maremma, known for its vast countryside extending to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The little town of Castel del Piano is just a few kilometres away. It enjoys a splendid panorama of the surrounding hills.Castel del Piano is part of the "Associations of Wine and Oil Town": a network of municipalities (11 in the province of Grosseto) for viticulture which together form a group of hotels, farms, restaurants, wine bars, wine bars and producing quality wine cellars. Great tourist attraction is the Palio of the four Districts (Borgo, Monumento, Poggio, Storte) of Castel del Piano that recalls the devotion to the SS. Madonna delle Grazie, valuable work on a gold background attributed to the fourteenth century Sienese painter Sano di Pietro. It is held every year on September 8; It is preceded by the "parade", which is the allegorical representation of the events that took place between 1330 and 1571 according to a legend rooted in tradition.

Interior:

The farmhouse consists of two storeys. The main entrance, situated under the panoramic portico, leads directly into the living room with an imposing fireplace (which functions as a wood stove). On the left of the living room is the spacious kitchen which also has direct access to the portico, furnished with table and chairs for outdoor meals. Between the kitchen and the living room a corridor leads to the sleeping area on the ground floor, composed of a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and a twin bedroom (with joinable beds) with ensuite bathroom with shower. From the kitchen a terracotta staircase leads to the first floor with another double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and a panoramic balcony overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys.

Park:

The fenced-in property extends over about 1 hectare of land sited on two terracings. The part of the garden around the house is planted with lawn, with cypresses and olives. Between the house and the swimming pool is a large brickwork barbecue. The portico equipped with hammok, table and chairs, is the ideal spot for outdoor dining whilst enjoying the panorama of the splendid Tuscan countryside. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

Five terracotta steps lead down to the pool which is set about 10 metres from the house in a panoramic position and is reachable throught 5 stone steps and a small ramp in lava stone. It measures 7 x 10 m with a constant depth of 1,40 m. The pool is entered by large steps; it is lined with sand-coloured PVC and has chlorine purification. The pool border is in stone while the solarium area is paved in terracotta. Sun beds and sunshade sail as well as a coldwater shower are at the guests’ disposal. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October.

Leafing through the map, we see that the house is located in the vicinity of the western hilly offshoots of the mountain massif of Monte Amiata; that the territory of the municipality of Castel del Piano is bordered to the north by the towns of Montalcino (SI) and Seggiano, on the east by the town of Abbadia San Salvatore (SI), south-east by the municipality of Santa Fiora, south with the municipality of Arcidosso, to the west with the town of Cinigiano. All common operating a historical, artistic and gastronomic first class. The same Castel del Piano adheres to European Destination of Excellence in the plan of the Italian destinations of excellence. The medieval borgo of Castel del Piano is a health resort surrounded by chestnut woods. It is an ideal holiday spot in all seasons thanks to its natural beauty (trekking paths, ski pistes, nature reserves etc). The proximity to the Tuscan coast (60 km) offers the opportunity of pleasant days at the beach resorts. Its territory is included in food and wine itinerary "Road of Montecucco Wine and Flavours of Amiata", which is proposed as a tool for promotion and enhancement of the provincial food and wine tourism (along with other 10 municipalities of the province of Grosseto), by offering products already in the territory of quality, but certainly may be further enhancement through research and the cultural and culinary rediscovery and promotion in conjunction with the tourist offer .Among other typical products emerge chestnuts IGP of Mount Amiata, the oil extra virgin olive oil Tuscan IGP, the DOP Tuscan pecorino cheese, the honey with its derivatives, the saffron of Maremma, the truffles and mushroom of Amiata, the salty cookie Roccalbegna.

Yes. The property is on a beautiful and quiet location with a 'million dollar' view over the Tuscan mountains. It has a large pool which gave us a chance to exercise in the warm weather. There was a high level of detail, such as fresh flowers in all the rooms upon arrival. The property is well located for visits to Siena, Pienza and Pitigliano. It is also very close to the Banfi winery which is a must visit for anybody interested in good Tuscan wines.

This villa was probably the nicest one we've stayed in. The house itself is absolutely lovely and, given the extreme heat we had during our visit, we very much appreciated having the air-conditioning throughout the house. The pool was amazing - much bigger than we realised. The pictures on the website don't do it justice! And the view was the most amazing view we've had. The portico beside the kitchen and living room furnished with table and chairs for outdoor meals. The pool was big enough for swimming and it was near the house. And the panoramic view from the portico and the pool was excellent. The layout of the house was very functional.

We really appreciated the view on the surroundings, the nice infinity pool, and the new furnished house. This place was quiet, perfect for relaxing vacation. Warm thanks to the welcoming owners, Nicoletta, Stefano and Renato :-)

More plates and glasses so that you don't have to do dishes all the time. Also plastic mugs and bowls would be practical for outside use. Otherwise the house was excellent!

ZER0DEP COVER - by EuropAssistance (Mandatory) 49€ each reservation The new "Zer0Dep" guarantee protects you and allows you to have a tranquil holiday. Zer0Dep stands for "Zero deposit"; it is an insurance coverage developed in partnership with EuropAssistance which replaces the security deposit and which is therefore mandatory. The benefits of this guarantee are: you do not pay the security deposit on arrival: neither in cash nor by immobilising a substantial amount on your credit card limit;
  • you are protected in the case of eventual damage to the property caused accidentally during your stay (up to the maximum limit of 1500 euro);
  • you avoid any dispute on the responsibility of the damage and its quantification during check-out;
