PRIVATE STRUCTURE. Casale dei Girasoli stands on a hill surrounded by the splendid Tuscan countryside stretching from Cortona to Sinalunga and from Arezzo to Montepulciano. A location immersed in nature, ideal for those seeking a peaceful holiday. The pre-existing farmhouse, built at the end of the 17th century, was inhabited by a large family of peasants who cultivated the extensive lands around it which were very fertile and particularly suited to the cultivation of olives. The renovations have been carried out in full respect of the original structure. The same warm familial atmosphere permeates the house today; an atmosphere kept intact thanks to the preservation of typical elements such as the original bricks, the open face beams, the terracotta. The interior of this exclusive farmhouse has been conceived to satisfy every need but the real crowning glory of the villa is the presence of a wellness centre equipped with sauna, Turkish bath and whirlpool tub and of a games room. Guests who choose this Tuscan house will have a very warm welcome and will live an unforgettable experience. The location and atmosphere of Casale dei Girasoli will be the ideal ingredients for serene and relaxing holidays immersed in the green Tuscan countryside. But at the same time this can become a strategic point for visiting the most beautiful cities of central Italy for history, culture, wine and food. Please Note: when the property is rented in this solution no other guests will be present on site.

Interior:

The house has three storeys, the third floor being constituted by the turret. From the main entrance you accede to the ground floor composed of a large living room, and billiard room, dining room, large kitchen and TV and study room, two toilets and a bathroom with shower. Two staircases lead up to the first floor subdivided into two separate wings, separated on the inside. One of the two wings is composed of two floors (first floor and second floor). On the first floor is a large suite composed of a double bedroom with king size bed, sitting room, study and a bathroom with whirlpool shower and a toilet. A staircase leads up to the second floor with a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with tub. The other wing on the first floor is composed of a double bedroom with king size bed, one with ensuite bathroom with shower and a double bedroom with external bathroom with tub, and a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with shower (adapt for young people). From the study on the ground floor stairs lead down to the basement in which there are the fitness room and then, other few steps, lead down to the wellness centre, equipped with Turkish bath zone, the whirlpool tub area, sauna, massage room and a bathroom with shower.

Park:

All around Casale dei Girasoli is a large garden bordered by typical cypresses with olive and fruit trees in the centre. Guests can spend many relaxing moments, recharging their batteries in the sauna and Turkish bath, swimming in the beautiful pool, playing ping pong or organizing a barbecue under the large, fully equipped (with cooker too), portico next to the kitchen. The large sweep of land surrounding it permits guests to enjoy quiet walks and mountain bike rides, immersed in the shimmer of the golden corn, surrounded by the yellow corollas of the sunflowers and the violet of the alfalfa. They can enjoy glorious sunsets, unique natural scenery and the bewitching view of Cortona. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

Open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October, the pool affords a beautiful view of Cortona and the surrounding gentle hills. It is sited on the same level as the villa, only 7 metres away from it. Rectangular shaped, it measures 16 x 8 m with a depth varying from 1.20 to 2.20 m; access to the water is by large steps or ladder. It is lined in PVC and purification is by chlorine. The border is in sandstone. It is surrounded by a beautiful well-kept lawn containing the solarium area equipped with sunbeds, deckchairs, chairs and 2 large umbrellas. On one side is a large gazebo furnished with chairs and table, perfect for aperitifs at sunset. The pool has an outdoor water shower.

Location and distances


The Location is an ideal starting point for who wish to have nice daily trip and sightseeing all over South Tuscany and Umbria as well being the city of Cortona located not far either from the motorway A1 (exit Valdichiana) and from the freeway Siena-Perugia. Very well known sites like Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Perugia, Assisi and so on can be reached in less than hour driving as well as the hidden and maybe most beautiful corners of this 2 regions. Big cities like Florence or Rome can be easily reached also by train (and we suggest to use it in high season to avoid traffic roads) being Cortona served by 2 train railways stations. Above all we are quite sure that you will fall in love with the ancient atmosphere of this beautiful town. All shops and facilities in the big village of Camucia, nice restaurants, bars, cafes, shops in Cortona. Supermarket are open also on Sunday morning.

Casale dei Girasoli was spacious and beautiful. There were so many living rooms that we never even sat in some of them! The grounds were lovely, and I especially loved the fields of sunflowers and hedges of rosemary. The outdoor kitchen and dining/living areas were greatly appreciated, and we spent most of our time outside enjoying the beautiful weather of Tuscany in August!

The villa has the genuine Tuscan feel, yet all the mod cons needed for comfortable living are at your disposal. The views are spectacular as the villa is situated on top of a hill. The interior is really quaint with lots of interesting objects in various styles. There are loads of things to do for all age groups but the villa is, at the same time, the ultimate "chill-out" place. The veranda overlooks the pool, a must for families with small children.

The pool and outdoor area were very lovely. The bedrooms were very comfortable and well appointed.
Do you have any suggestions to improve the property?
Bottled water should be provided upon check-in as it was a surprise that we could not drink the water, so had to immediately head to the store to purchase water. The separate house is a bit rough and warm. The hot tub had bugs in it.

WEEKLY RENTALS:
The standard typology is the one that foresees the regular Saturday- Saturday stay. In this case it is possible to send a request or to directly book online.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.

  • Covid-19 infections (new)
  • a terrorist attack that has struck the place of stay (new)

STAY CANCELLATION GUARANTEE DUE TO LOCKDOWN - by Emma Villas (Included in the price) The final price of the reservation includes also the special coverage, guaranteed by Emma Villas, in the event that you are forced to cancel your stay in the 30 days prior to the scheduled check-in date, due to the occurrence of at least one of the following Covid-19 epidemic containment measures officially imposed by the competent authorities:
  • national lockdown in Italy;
  • local lockdown in Italy regarding the area in which the booked villa is located ("red" area or impossible to reach due to official restrictions on free circulation);
  • national lockdown in your country of residence;
  • Italian local lockdown in the Client's Municipality or area of residence..
