From this border area between the marvellous valleys of the Chiana and the Orcia an extraordinary 360° view dominates, starting from the beautiful garden surrounding the house, then stretching over the rolling hills up to the peaks of Monte Amiata (30 km from the summit), stupendous in the reddish sunsets, to the soaring heights of Rocca di Radicofani and Celle sul Rigo and over all the surrounding villages that illuminate the dark evenings. A truly unique setting for those travellers looking for essential pristine landscapes in this magical Sienese countryside which can be explored on foot, by bike or by car. The house reflects the style and personality of the owners who have enriched the rooms with original details and furnishings, while leaving intact the spirit, warmth and architecture of typical Tuscan houses. Casale del Viaggiatore allows you to perfectly combine a holiday dedicated to wellness, thanks to the proximity to the prestigious thermal springs of San Casciano dei Bagni, just 15 minutes from the property, with the possibility of visiting the Tuscan art cities and the suggestive borghi of the surroundings with their intriguing eno-gastronomic proposals, such as Radicofani, Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d'Orcia, Montalcino and many others.

Interior:

The house consists of 2 independent floors connected only by an external staircase. On the ground floor is the large living room with open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and two twin bedrooms (with joinable beds) sharing a bathroom with tub. On the top floor is a further living room with lounge, dining room and kitchen, a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and a twin bedroom (with joinable beds) served by a bathroom with tub. The laundry is located in a room at the side of the house with access from the outside.

Park:

The park is completely fenced and extends for about one hectare of land, most of which is occupied by the accessible olive grove that borders one side of the garden. At the end of cypress-lined drive leading to the entrance to the property, immediately after which is the shaded parking area, is a lush garden mainly covered in lawn with majestic oaks and holm oaks, olive, lemon and pomegranate trees and red rose bushes. Portico, pergolas and the seats scattered throughout the garden offer a beautiful view of Monte Amiata. The pergola at the back is equipped with a dining table and, next to it, a stone barbecue. The location of the property is quiet and secluded, despite being located just a few metres from the main road. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

Open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October, the sunny swimming pool is set in a beautiful secluded panoramic position. It is located on a slightly lower terrace than the house (reachable down 6 steps or walking trought the garden) which is about 40 m away. The rectangular pool measures 5x10 m with a constant depth of 1.40 m. Lined in PVC with a stone border, it has chlorine purification, a ladder for access to the water, an outdoor solar shower and lighting throughout the surrounding area. The sunbathing area, where you can relax in all tranqullity, is bordered by a discreet hedge and is equipped with sunbeds, pergola and umbrella.

The house lies in the typical landscape of the Val d'Orcia and, thanks to its position in southern Tuscany and very close to the green region of Umbria, the location is perfect as the ideal departure point for exploring the most important historical and cultural centres of the two regions. Less than half an hour away are fascinating places of historical and eno-gastronomic interest, such as Cetona, Città della Pieve, Sarteano and San Casciano dei Bagni which, in addition to being a charming borgo full of monuments and churches, is home to thermal baths (with 45 thermal springs) and a wellness centre among the most renowned in Tuscany. The proximity to the A1 motorway, with the exits of Fabro (38 km for those coming from the south) and Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (37 km for those coming from the north), as well as to the Chiusi railway station on the Rome-Florence line, about 30 minutes from the property, allows short trips to visit places such as Cortona, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Siena etc. The nearest airports are those of Perugia (82 km), Florence (159 km) and Rome (165 km). The property is located in an area of great scenic and naturalistic interest, with the Val d'Orcia Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Monte Amiata (about 30 km from the summit), the Archaeological Park of Monte Cetona and the Nature Reserve of Monte Rufeno.

For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.

  • electricity (€ 130,00 per week in low season; € 200,00 per week in medium season and € 250,00 in high season). Heating from November to April (€ 55,00/day). N.B. These costs, not included in the price list, will be calculated at the reservation time and due at the balance payment.
  • Mandatory extra cleaning in case of animals (€ 30,00/week/animal)
  • Tourism tax (€ 2,00 per person per day for the first 7 days. Please note that children under 12 years old will not pay).

  • local lockdown in Italy regarding the area in which the booked villa is located ("red" area or impossible to reach due to official restrictions on free circulation);
  • national lockdown in your country of residence;
  • Italian local lockdown in the Client's Municipality or area of residence..
