Description:

PRIVATE STRUCTURE (lease only). Just two and a half kilometres from the historic town centre of San Quirico d'Orcia, in the heart of the Val d'Orcia south of Siena, Le Bandite stands in an extraordinary hill position, secluded and tranquil. This warm country home is a typical, old Tuscan farmhouse, renovated to guarantee you a comfortable stay. Its welcoming structure, clad in exposed stone, with chestnut ceiling beams and terracotta-tiled floors, has six double bedrooms furnished in classical style, all with air-conditioning and private bathroom with shower. The heart of the house is on the ground floor, a brightly-lit portico with living/dining area connected on one side, towards the interior, with the spacious, well-equipped kitchen and on the other side, completely open to the garden overlooking the pool, with an area where everything is immediately accessible: barbecue, ping-pong table, wood stove and benches and chairs strategically placed in front of the splendid skyline that can be seen just beyond the wooded crown that surrounds the property, covered with rolling wheat fields that endlessly overlap in succession, in a thousand shades of ocher, red and yellow, stretching in the distance to the borgo of Montalcino. Le Bandite will captivate lovers of nature and silence and those looking for a place where privacy is guaranteed but which, at the same time, is within easy reach of the renowned spas resorts in the area (Bagno Vignoni, Chianciano Terme, Montepulciano, San Casciano dei Bagni), of the little towns famous for their art, food and wine, such as Montalcino, Castiglione d'Orcia, Pienza and Montepulciano, which dot the area or for longer excursions towards Mount Amiata or the region of Chianti.

LE BANDITE HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

Interior:

The house has two floors connected only by an external staircase, covering a total area of about 200 sq m. Along the back, facing the pool area, is a large portico furnished with sofas and dining table with entrance that leads via three steps into the well-equipped kitchen with dining table. On this floor are also a twin bedroom (with joinable beds) with private bathroom with shower, three double bedrooms and three bathrooms with shower, two of which ensuite. A staircase on one side of the house leads up to the top floor composed of living area with kitchenette (suitable for breakfast) and two double bedrooms (one of which with a french bed) with ensuite bathroom with shower. The laundry is located in a stone structure next to the house. Please note that the fireplaces are ornamental.

Park:

Outside the house are numerous areas for outdoor relaxation and fun, starting with the wooden panoramic portico overlooking the pool, organised with living and dining area that opens onto the garden and consents a convenient and full use of the area. Just a few steps away is the wood oven, a large stone barbecue and another panoramic gazebo orgnized as a seating area, the perfect spot for sipping an apéritif while enjoying the beautiful sunsets over the Val d'Orcia. A vast expanse of olive trees, a small orchard, holm oaks and many bushes of lavender and rosemary enhance the garden which stretches naturally to the extensive woodland that surrounds the property for about one and half hectares, crossed by many marked trails, accessible directly from the house, where it is not uncommon to see hares, porcupines and roe deer. A large area at the end of the access drive and adjacent to the house is reserved for parking. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The exclusive rectangular pool is located a few metres from the house, on an underlying terrace in front of it and reached via a short walkway in rough stone and then down one of the two ramps on either side of the area and framed in front by the woods surrounding the property. Lined in PVC with a stone border, it measures 6 x 12 m with the depth ranging from 1.20 to 2.40 m. Access to the water is via beautiful large Roman steps provided with massage jets. Around the pool is a large, stoneware-tiled area equipped with sunbeds, deckchairs, seats, and a solar shower. It has chlorine purification and internal lights. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday of October.

Location and distances


The Val d'Orcia, among the most beautiful areas of Tuscany, unfolds south of Siena, skirting the boundaries of Grosseto and Monte Amiata. An essential feature of its peculiar morphology are the rolling hills covered by a dense vegetation of vineyards, olive groves, beechwoods and the classical cypresses, interrupted by old inhabited areas of medieval origin, rural houses and ancient watchtowers dispersed in the quiet, isolated nature of the area. Thanks to this unique blend of art, history, landscape and nature, it is the authentic expression of wonderful natural features that over the centuries have been enriched by a precious artistic and cultural heritage and, for this, it was included in 2004 in the renowned UNESCO World Heritage List, appearing among the most important historical-scenic sites. The municipalities of the Renaissance town of Pienza, of Castiglione d'Orcia with its ancient strongholds, of Montalcino with its imposing Fortress and famous Brunello wine, of Radicofani with its breathtaking views from atop its imposing tower, of San Quirico d'Orcia and all the other priceless little villages scattered throughout the area give rise to the Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park of the Val d'Orcia, a single concentrated area where, thanks to all of these places, you can dive into the past and appreciate a yet unspoilt nature, great artistic masterpieces and a precious gastronomic heritage declined in simple but sublime products such as wine, extra virgin olive oil, cured meats, honey, mushrooms and truffles. The borgo of San Quirico d'Orcia, among the most remarkable examples of medieval town planning, rises to 424 m above sea level on its northern border and is an obbligatory stop along the Via Francigena, situated along the Via Cassia, the great Roman road that connected Rome to northern Italy and which crosses the entire valley. Strolling through its historic town centre, inside the ancient walls, you will be captivated by the typical medieval tone of the borgo where where you will find, all well worth a visit, the beautiful Collegiate Church with its magnificent Romanesque-Gothic portals, the Church of Mercy, Palazzo Pretorio, Palazzo Chigi, the Church of San Francesco, the Rose garden and the Horti Leonini, a splendid Italian garden built in 1540 near the central piazza. Close to the village is the popular spa resort of Bagno Vignoni, with its wonderful unique hot-water “piazza-pool”, reachable on foot or by mountain bike along fascinating unpaved country roads. The little town of San Quirico d'Orcia is easily accessible from Siena or from the south (motorway exit of Chiusi Chianciano Terme). It is served by the railway stations of Buonconvento (regional services) and Chiusi (direct connections to Rome and Florence). The town can also be reached by public bus from the Siena railway station (the bus stop is about 2.5 km from the house). The main regional airports are in Florence (124 km) and Pisa (162 km). In the centre of town are shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets.

Initially it was difficult to set up a customer account. However, all staff were very helpful when approached by phone or email. The welcome at the villa was good and he explained all the functions of the house and pool that we needed to know. Also, there was a quick response when we had a problem with the pool.

The property was absolutely delightful: the location, views, amenities were great. Beds were fabulous, as were the bathroom facilities. The property is at the end of a 2km dirt track which meant that our neighbours were lovely olive orchards. We were so pleased with the privacy - we felt we were not intruding on anyone else if we played music or were up late. Great location in terms of access to so many other fabulous places - it was incredibly central.

The owners are wonderful people who take great pride in their property. The signora made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed her olive oil and her cake. Everything in the house was perfectly clean. the pool is magnificent. The owners are creating a very nice garden. The view from the verandah is beautiful. The fridge, oven and stove are all of good quality.

WEEKLY RENTALS:
The standard typology is the one that foresees the regular Saturday- Saturday stay. In this case it is possible to send a request or to directly book online.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.

  • Covid-19 infections (new)
  • a terrorist attack that has struck the place of stay (new)

STAY CANCELLATION GUARANTEE DUE TO LOCKDOWN - by Emma Villas (Included in the price) The final price of the reservation includes also the special coverage, guaranteed by Emma Villas, in the event that you are forced to cancel your stay in the 30 days prior to the scheduled check-in date, due to the occurrence of at least one of the following Covid-19 epidemic containment measures officially imposed by the competent authorities:
  • national lockdown in Italy;
  • local lockdown in Italy regarding the area in which the booked villa is located ("red" area or impossible to reach due to official restrictions on free circulation);
  • national lockdown in your country of residence;
  • Italian local lockdown in the Client's Municipality or area of residence..

HEALTH ASSISTANCE INSURANCE POLICY - by EuropAssistance (Optional) +1,5% of the rental price Not only cancellation policies, but also protection during your stay. You can choose to purchase this policy in the event you should, for the duration of your stay, want coverage for:
  • Healthcare with Operations Centre 24/7;
  • Vehicle Assistance to and from the place of stay and for the entire duration of your holiday; (zona "rossa" o impossibile da raggiungere a causa di restrizioni ufficiali alla libera circolazione);
  • Healthcare for family members left at home;
  • Reimbursement of medical expenses;
  • Repeat Trip Guarantee that reimburses the unused portion without deductible in the case of medical return home or early return home.

In the event of consequences related to the pandemic that occur during your stay, if you sign up to this policy, you can request the following services:
  • Return home;
  • Advance for expenses for basic necessities;
  • Guarantee for extra medical expenses;
  • Extended stay guarantee;
  • Hospitalisation allowance;
  • Travel fee reimbursement.

ZER0DEP COVER - by EuropAssistance (Mandatory) 49€ each reservation The new "Zer0Dep" guarantee protects you and allows you to have a tranquil holiday. Zer0Dep stands for "Zero deposit"; it is an insurance coverage developed in partnership with EuropAssistance which replaces the security deposit and which is therefore mandatory. The benefits of this guarantee are: you do not pay the security deposit on arrival: neither in cash nor by immobilising a substantial amount on your credit card limit;
  • you are protected in the case of eventual damage to the property caused accidentally during your stay (up to the maximum limit of 1500 euro);
  • you avoid any dispute on the responsibility of the damage and its quantification during check-out;

  • online check-in (entering the required details that you did not enter when booking);
  • payment of tourist tax (where due) and eventual flat-rate payments requested (eg electricity, heating, extra cleaning for animals, etc.);
