RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. Casale Montebendico is a gracious, recently restored property. The property is located on the border of Val d’Orcia, area renown for the “Crete Cenesi” and the “Maremma”, a land which extends from the splendid countryside to the Tyrrhenian sea. Situated only a few kilometres from Castel del Piano which has breathtaking views of the unforgettable hillsides. Casale Montebendico, allows guests to spend a relaxing vacation in the countryside without having to give up daily excursions to local gems such as Montalcino, hamlet well know for its world wide production of Brunello or to one of the beautiful beaches of the Tuscan Coast. "...Castel del Piano ... for the beauty of the place, for the comfort of the pleasant location, no doubt is the first among those who stand on that side ..." (Pope Pius II). A country located in a beautiful natural position, on the edge of a plateau from which it derives its name (Castrum Plani). Upstream surrounded by woods - chestnut at lower altitudes and beech forest - (one of the largest in Europe) to a thousand meters and downstream by olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, equipped with all the services and sports and recreational facilities for an ideal holiday. At the center of a zone of pure spring waters that are at the same time a remarkable natural spectacle and the main water resources of the provinces of Grosseto and Siena. We are along the side of a mountain on a human scale reached in a quarter of an hour from 632 meters of the historic city center at 1300-1400 meters of Prati delle Macinaie and della Contessa (both in the municipality of Castel del Piano), up to 1732 meters of the summit of Monte Amiata, an ancient volcano, where you can admire the monumental "Cross" and the "Madonna of the Scouts".

MONTEBENDICO HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

Interior:

The property is divided onto two floors. The main entrance is situated under a portico furnished with sofa’s and table. On the right hand side of the main entrance there is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The left side of the house is dedicated to the day area, where there is a splendid living/dinning room with fireplace and fully equipped kitchen with French doors that lead out into the garden. From the kitchen, a wooden staircase leads to the first floor where there is a study with a panoramic terrace. Casale Montebendico has been carefully restored, maintaining its warm Tuscan feel, with wooden ceiling beams and “cotto” flooring, which blend in perfectly with its wooden furniture. Behind the house there is a laundry room, whereas next to the portico there is a wood oven and a fixed barbecue.

Park:

The fenced-in property has about 1,5 hectares of land. The area that surrounds the property and the pool is cultivated with a green lawn, flowers and lavender, whereas in the remaining part of the land there are olive trees and secular trees. The property has a porch equipped with hammock, sofa and armchairs, which is ideal for watching the sunset whilst sampling a good glass of wine. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The pool is about 20 meters from the property and is accessible via a practical ramp, the pool measures 11 x 7 m with a variable depth of 0,70 m to 1,40 m. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October; has PVC lining and chlorine purification. The pool area is equipped with cold external shower and furnished with gazebo with table and chairs, 4 sun loungers and 2 umbrellas.

Location and distances


Situated on the side of Monte Amiata, the medieval borgo of Castel del Piano is a health resort surrounded by chestnut woods. It is an ideal holiday spot in all seasons thanks to its natural beauty (trekking paths, ski pistes, nature reserves etc). We are in a geographical area characterized by different scenarios: from the mountain top to the valleys sloping gradually towards the Maremma, on one side, and to the Val d'Orcia, on the other, until you get to vast cultivations of olives and vines. The property is an excellent starting point for the spa towns of Saturnia, Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo, Chianciano Terme and San Casciano dei Bagni, known for their exclusive wellness centres and spas. You can also find history, art, culture, cuisine and typical local products enclosed in the villages of Pienza, Montalcino, Sovana, Scansano and, towards southern Tuscany, Montepulciano, Sarteano and Cetona. Siena and Grosseto are both about an hour's drive away, as is the Maremma Regional Park and the beaches of Marina di Grosseto, Talamone and Castiglione della Pescaia. Many discoveries found in the immediate vicinity relating to the Paleolithic, Neolithic and the Apennine civilization and the Etruscan and Roman periods, make ancient origins of Castel del Piano. Perhaps the Etruscans exploited the mines of cinnabar (mercury) of Mount Amiata and even the earth "tubular" located near the village. 890, Casale Plana (Castel del Piano) is among the possessions of the great Benedictine-Cistercian Abbey of Abbadia San Salvatore. The Palio of Castel del Piano is held every year on September 8 and is preceded by the "parade", which is the allegorical representation of historical events between 1330 and 1571.

Casa Montebendico is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday in wonderful surroundings. A house with a long history that has been renovated to a high standard with clear attention to the place and attention to detail. Very nice host and everything you could need is available. The property is privately located with beautiful views and usually with a lovely summer breeze. Fantastic lovely swimming pool.

Very very good. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, offering to assist with finding restaurants, informing us of the local shops and attraction. He informed us when he would be on site to perform maintenance and cleaning duties ahead of the day. In order that we could plan around it.

The renovation (extra bathroom) of the property after our first vacation in 2015. The hospitality of the friendly owners who did the check-in and out themselves. It was nice seeing again each other. After tree year we came back to Montebendico for a second vacation in that nice property with a great view, lovely villages in the surroundings, a relaxing swimming pool and friendly owners who were available at every moment for any of our requests. We will come back to Montebendico.

The owners are extremely nice and easy going. The property is perfect for a family of 4.

WEEKLY RENTALS:
The standard typology is the one that foresees the regular Saturday- Saturday stay. In this case it is possible to send a request or to directly book online.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.

  • objectively and unambiguously documentable motivations of health or work and not foreseeable at the time of booking
  • Covid-19 infections (new)
  • a terrorist attack that has struck the place of stay (new)

STAY CANCELLATION GUARANTEE DUE TO LOCKDOWN - by Emma Villas (Included in the price) The final price of the reservation includes also the special coverage, guaranteed by Emma Villas, in the event that you are forced to cancel your stay in the 30 days prior to the scheduled check-in date, due to the occurrence of at least one of the following Covid-19 epidemic containment measures officially imposed by the competent authorities:
  • national lockdown in Italy;
  • local lockdown in Italy regarding the area in which the booked villa is located ("red" area or impossible to reach due to official restrictions on free circulation);
  • national lockdown in your country of residence;
  • Italian local lockdown in the Client's Municipality or area of residence..

HEALTH ASSISTANCE INSURANCE POLICY - by EuropAssistance (Optional) +1,5% of the rental price Not only cancellation policies, but also protection during your stay. You can choose to purchase this policy in the event you should, for the duration of your stay, want coverage for:
  • Healthcare with Operations Centre 24/7;
  • Vehicle Assistance to and from the place of stay and for the entire duration of your holiday; (zona "rossa" o impossibile da raggiungere a causa di restrizioni ufficiali alla libera circolazione);
  • Healthcare for family members left at home;
  • Reimbursement of medical expenses;

COVID-19 EXTRA POLICY - by EuropAssistance (Optional) 40€ each reservation To protect against any risks caused by the Covid-19 emergency, you can purchase the Covid-19 Extra Policy which protects you in the event that you or one of your travel companions are forced to extend your stay or are unable to complete it. In the event of consequences related to the pandemic that occur during your stay, if you sign up to this policy, you can request the following services:
  • Return home;
  • Advance for expenses for basic necessities;
  • Guarantee for extra medical expenses;

ZER0DEP COVER - by EuropAssistance (Mandatory) 49€ each reservation The new "Zer0Dep" guarantee protects you and allows you to have a tranquil holiday. Zer0Dep stands for "Zero deposit"; it is an insurance coverage developed in partnership with EuropAssistance which replaces the security deposit and which is therefore mandatory. The benefits of this guarantee are: you do not pay the security deposit on arrival: neither in cash nor by immobilising a substantial amount on your credit card limit;
  • you are protected in the case of eventual damage to the property caused accidentally during your stay (up to the maximum limit of 1500 euro);
  • you avoid any dispute on the responsibility of the damage and its quantification during check-out;
  • you can enjoy your villa holiday in greater tranquillity.

"EMMA", OUR NEW APP FOR SMART SERVICE Furthermore, from spring 2021, all our properties will be supported by Emma, a multifunctional Web-App, developed in partnership with Vikey s.r.l., that will allow you to implement:
  • online check-in (entering the required details that you did not enter when booking);
  • payment of tourist tax (where due) and eventual flat-rate payments requested (eg electricity, heating, extra cleaning for animals, etc.);
