Casale dell'Acero Rosso (House of the Red Maple) is an old farmhouse that has now become a dream residence thanks to fine contemporary renovation. This splendid property is set among the rolling, vineyard-covered hills above Canelli and enjoys absolute tranquillity with a 360 degree view over the surrounding countryside. The house has four suites, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor, as well as a studio apartment with a large terrace. All these solutions offer maximum privacy as each has its own fully-equipped kitchen. On the ground floor, the large open-plan area, divided into lounge with bar corner, dining room and a beautiful Italian-style kitchen, is able to comfortably accommodate guests for convivial moments and, finally, an unexpected gem: the large gym equipped for Pilates which can be used only if accompanied by a certified instructor, to be booked and paid for. The large level garden surrounding the house includes two pergolas, a large heated infinity pool, a poolside Jacuzzi tub and a solarium area equipped with deckchairs and sunbeds, and will give you the best moments of your holiday because all around are the rolling hills with rows of fine vines: Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Cortese and Chardonnay. The house is located just three kilometres from Canelli which has been, since 2014, part of the Unesco World Heritage Site of the vineyard landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, an area that boasts exceptional landscapes and, above all, a wine production of extraordinary quality and renowned tradition.

Interior:

The house has three floors connected via internal stone staircase. From the large private parking area you reach the main entrance on the ground floor which leads into the large open-plan area with bar corner, dining area and kitchen. This area has numerous direct exits to the garden and then the pool. On the ground floor are the first two residential units, composed of living/sitting room and kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom with shower. One unit has a double bedroom with dividable beds while the second is a twin bedroom. On the first floor are three residential units: the first with living/sitting room and kitchen, a double bedroom with divisible bed and a bathroom with shower, the second with living/sitting room and kitchen, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower, while the last one is a studio apartment with kitchen/dining area with a single bed and an additional cupboard foldaway bed, a bathroom with shower and a large terrace for exclusive use. In the basement, in addition to a bike shelter and a laundry room, is the large gym specifically equipped for those who want to practise Pilates which can be used only if accompanied by a certified instructor.

Park:

The unfenced park extends for about 4.000 sq m around the house, partly woodland and partly lawn (about 2000 sq m), including tall trees like the beautiful row of cypresses, colourful hedges, oleanders and roses while the perimeter is planted with hedges. On the south side lies the heated swimming pool and between it and the house is a beautiful pergola organised as an outdoor living area, the ideal place to enjoy the sunset over the Piedmontese hills. Close to the house is a paved terrace furnished with table and chairs for excellent outdoor meals. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The rectangular swimming pool, easily reached across the garden, is about 15 m from the villa and measures 12 x 4 m with the depth varying from 1,10 to 1,40 cm. Built in cement and lined in vinyl,it is heated, it has salt purification, Roman steps and ladder for access to the water and lighting so that guests can swim during the splendid summer nights. There is a solar-heated, hot-water shower. The pool area is completed by a solarium equipped with sunbeds, deck chairs, umbrellas and a splendid whirlpool. The pool is available to guests from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October. The temperature of the pool water is approximately 26-28° C.

Location and distances


The town of Canelli is part of the Community of the Hills “Tra Langa e Monferrato” together with the little towns of Calosso, Castagnole delle Lanze, Coazzolo, Costigliole d'Asti, Moasca, Montegrosso and San Marzano Oliveto and is the main town of the 52 municipalities of the Moscato area. Canelli is defined a real wine town and is considered one of the wine capitals of the world with its 524 wineries. The cultivated vines are Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Cortese and Chardonnay; the principal wines that have made Canelli famous all over the world are the “flanged cork” Asti Spumante and Moscato d'Asti, both vinified with DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita = Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) Moscato grapes. Canelli is a tourist destination thanks to its Underground Cathedrals, 20 km of old historical underground cellars dug into tufa rock that run through the entire subsoil of the town, and also an UNESCO World Heritage site. These are choreographic settings that celebrate the refining ritual in barrels and bottles of still and sparkling wines. Currently there are 4 wineries that can be visited, which belong to four historic Canelli producers: Bosca, Contratto, Coppo and Gancia. Another great product of Canelli is Vermouth, an infusion prepared with wine, alcohol, cane sugar and extracts of aromatic herbs. The main types are red and white Vermouth, Dry Vermouth and Americano. Another important product is the IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protetta = Protected Geographical Indication) Piedmontese Hazelnut which is mainly found in the Asti Langa and in the Belbo Valley and which acquired IGP denomination in 1993. The town is not just a destination for food and wine tourism but it is also the seat of various important events. The event that takes place the third weekend of June, is “L'Assedio di Canelli” (The Siege of Canelli), a historical reenactment that celebrates the victory in 1613 of the people of Canelli against the army of Monferrato. For two days, 3000 people in costume transform Canelli into a 17th century town and around twenty taverns offer medieval menus. On the fourth weekend of September, Canelli hosts a gastronomic kermesse “Canelli Città del Vino” (Canelli Town of Wine) where various Italian regions meet up with the cuisine and wine of Canelli. In autumn, at the beginning of November, the “Fiera Regionale del Tartufo” (Regional Truffle Fair) is held where you can admire and buy the exquisite White Truffle and also sample it in the various restaurants in town. At the same time, the “Antica Fiera di San Martino”(Old Fair of St Martin), of 14th century origin with its characteristic market, also takes place.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.

  • electricity and heated pool (€ 150,00/week in April - May - October; € 200,00/week in June - September; € 250,00/week in July - August), tourism tax (€ 1,50 per person per night for the first 4 nights.
