Casale Montegiovi has all the warmth and atmosphere of Tuscan farmhouses, with exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, built-in kitchen, Barberino stone for the walls and prevalence of wooden furniture. The house is located between the Val d'Orcia, an area renowned for the Crete Senesi and centres of great interest such as Pienza and Montalcino, and the Maremma known for its extensive countryside that extends to the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is located a few kilometres from Castel del Piano and allows guests to spend a relaxing holiday as well as making excursions to places like Montalcino, a borgo known worldwide for the production of Brunello wine, or to the most beautiful beaches of the Tuscan coast. Castel del Piano is part of the “Associazioni Città del Vino e Città dell'Olio” (Associations of Wine and Oil Cities): a network of towns (11 in the province of Grosseto) with a winegrowing vocation that together form a circuit of hotels, farm holiday structures, restaurants, wine bars and quality wineries. Within easy reach of the property are many places of interest in the surroundings, ranging from delightful medieval borghi such as Abbadia San Salvatore, Arcidosso, Santa Fiora, Montalcino, Sovana or Pienza, to countless spa resorts (Saturnia, Bagni San Filippo, Bagno Vignoni, Chianciano Terme and San Casciano dei Bagni), to seaside resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast and to parks and nature reserves, the pride of this splendid strip of Tuscan territory. Siena and Grosseto are both about an hour's drive away as are the Maremma Regional Park and the beaches of Marina di Grosseto, Talamone and Castiglione della Pescaia.

Interior:

The house has two floors. From the entrance forecourt, two steps lead to the living area, with a living/dining room with fireplace and a fully-equipped built-in kitchen with a French window leading out to the forecourt. From the kitchen, a wooden staircase goes up to the first floor with a bathroom with shower, a double bedroom with outside exit and a twin bedroom. 10 metres from the house is the annex with entrance from the forecourt, on the same level as the house, leading to a double bedroom with bathroom with shower. A stone staircase leads to an exit at the back and to the basement floor consisting of a sitting room with direct exit on the garden and a bathroom with shower. All the bedrooms have air conditioning.

Park:

The completely fenced-in property extends over 2500 sq m on three terraces. On the first level is the entrance forecourt with the house, the annex, the pergola with dining table a few metres from both, the laundry room, the mobile barbecue and the stone steps that give access to the various levels of the property. On a second terrace is the basement of the annex, from here a stone staircase on one side and tufa steps on the other lead to the third terrace with the pool, garden and parking area. The park contains chestnut trees, oaks, rosemary and fig trees. The garden part (800 sq m) is planted with mixed lawns with olive trees. The recommended parking area is at the end of the garden, accessed via a manual vehicle-accessible gate, with up to 3 uncovered parking spaces. The entrance courtyard with automatic vehicle-accessible gate can accommodate up to 2 cars. The irrigation system is automatic, the external lights are partly crepuscular and partly manual. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The horseshoe-shaped pool measures 8 x 8.5 m with a constant depth of 1.50 m and has chlorine purification and 6 easy steps for entry to the water. The pool lining and the solarium area are both in light grey stoneware tiles that give the water a transparent, crystalline appearance. The 100 sq m solarium delineated by a stone wall is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, armchairs, pool mattresses, small tables and a cold-water shower. Continuing on from the solarium is a 40 sq m pergola in wood and fabric, installed on the lawn. The swimming pool lies at a lower level than the house and the annex, 20 m away. It is reached from the house down 15 terracotta steps and a small grass ramp or down 15 tufa steps from the dependance basement. The lighting inside the pool (two lights) and in the solarium area (lights and lamps) allow you to enjoy the pool in the evening and at night as well. The pool is available from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October.

Location and distances


The little borgo of Montegiovi, an old medieval centre located about 500 m above sea level and clinging to a rocky hill along the western slopes of Mount Amiata, can be easily reached along the provincial road of Cipressino, an important arterial road that connects the Tyrrhenian coast with Monte Amiata and the Val d'Orcia. In the borgo is a restaurant with a bar and a small store while in Castel del Piano (5 km) you can find supermarkets, the bank and all other useful services. Casale Montegiovi is located near the hilly western outcrops of the mountain massif of Monte Amiata; the territory of Castel del Piano borders to the north with Montalcino (SI) and Seggiano, to the east with Abbadia San Salvatore (SI), to the south-east with Santa Fiora, to the south with Arcidosso and to the west with Cinigiano: all towns with a historical, artistic and enogastronomic heritage of the first order. Castel del Piano itself adheres to the European Destination of Excellence in the project of Italian destinations of excellence. The medieval borgo of Castel del Piano is a climatic resort surrounded by chestnut woods. It is the ideal place for holidays in all seasons thanks to the natural beauty (hiking trails, ski slopes, nature reserves, etc). Its proximity to the Tuscan coast (60 km) offers the opportunity for pleasant days in various seaside resorts. Its territory is included in the enogastronomic itinerary “Strada del Vino Montecucco e dei Sapori dell'Amiata” (Road of Montecucco Wine and Flavours of the Amiata) which is proposed as a tool for the promotion and enhancement of provincial enogastronomical tourism (together with 10 other towns in the province of Grosseto), with the offer of quality products already present in the territory but certainly open to further boost through research and cultural and culinary rediscovery and their promotion in connection with the tourist offer. Among other typical products are the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) chestnut of Monte Amiata, the PGI Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Tuscan pecorino cheese, honey with its derivatives, the saffron of Maremma, the truffles and the Amiata mushroom, the salted biscuit of Roccalbegna.

Eine sehr schöne italienische Villa. Sie wurde mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Wir haben alles sehr sauber und ordentlich vorgefunden. Die Schlüsselübergabe durch Dario erfolgte sehr nett und unkompliziert. Als Clou gibt es ein kleines Extra Häuschen, wo sehr bequem 2 Personen übernachten können. Toller Pool mit netter Abendbeleuchtung. Wir haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen.

Yes, we had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the pool, the view, the big outdoor table and the comfortable beds. Except for the airconditioning that malfunctioned from time to time, there is nothing to complain. That wasn't a problem for us; the host sent a technician that fixed the airconditioning. The communication with the host was very good.

Better working airconditioning (but it was maybe just bad luck...) For the kitchen we would suggest some cutting boards (or we couldn't find them...) Improve the level of the entrance to the property (two of them) for the cars. Cars bump a bit on the ground when turning into the entrance.
